  • Hello everyone, I assume that you heard the news about Chain Chronicle Global's closure today. It's with a very heavy heart to see that the game has closed, but we will still do our best by translating Arcana from the Japanese version of the game for those who are playing it, but don't expect us to translate anything else as we've stopped playing.

We hope that we may help those of you who have chosen to play the Japanese version of the game, as for those of you who have decided to stop playing and leave. I hope that you had a great time here at the Chain Chronicle Wiki, and you are more than welcome to talk off-topic with the other captains here. [Zero]

    • KZ, it was a short cooperation we had, but I have so much fun. I thought I finally found the perfect RPG for my phone since June last year, but I guess good things will came to an end. Thank you for your hard work on the Wiki, thank you so much.

On another note, since I never played Brave Frontier though, this might be a great chance for me to do so. Also, I would like to invite everyone to play Fate/ Grand Order if you don't mind the Japanese language; the developer took Chain Chronicle as their template for the game, so lots of things in the game is pretty much similar to CC. Not to mention, I already have a decent Servant that will help you blaze through the first three worlds with no problem.

See you people in another world; whether in Chaldea, Azuria, or in whatever BF world's name is, I'll be there to liven up the situation.

Me personally I don't know if I'll keep playing CC. The Japanese version would be the one I'd pick but there's some features there missing that makes me think twice, like the missing of "Auto battle". But February 29th is still far so who knows, maybe JCC will pick these features or maybe some other company or SEGA itself will pick GCC and cancel its closure. Let's just hope.

There's no way to do that. You need the rights from SEGA to do it or otherwise it's a pirate server and you'll risk being persued by the law.

    • After seeing the first minute they posted the news on their FB page. I was pretty shocked, and it also really demotivated me (especially when I just draw my first Aoi from tavern). It's more disappointing than sad to hear about something like this when you took time trying to get something (ie- war chronicles, DR) but thinking about it, it was bound to happen. The game itself became too repetitive for the Global community and was already losing players on a daily basis. Gumi wasn't trying to revive the player base or even get people to come back.

Well, farewell CCGlobal community, you guys were a great bunch. It would be nice if there was another company to pick CCG up but that's less likely the case and if so...We're most likely going to have to restart all over from the beginning (depending on their protocol). All my hardwork and collecting those collectors weapon I haven't even used it went to waste. Ah...it aches my heart so!

    • It was very shocking news when I logged on and it is quite a shame for the game to close down shortly after a year since its release. It's been a pleasure to be playing this game since the first day of its iOS release and I'm sure that there are quite a lot of veteran or new players that express the similar feeling as I do.

I'm now somewhat debating whether or not to start the JP version for fun sake. This is rather depressing news to find out that all of the progress that we've all made in the game will be gone once the day in February hits. While I wasn't all too active in the wiki, I thank the wiki and its community for all that they provided. It was an extraordinary experience. Perhaps, maybe someday, we'll all cross paths. Until then, farewell.

    • Here's one negative response then. I am glad that this game and others by gumi are failing. The games are ruined by their intentional changes all for greed. This started with BF and will continue. As such I vow to do my best to bring the fall of Gumi and its games as much as possible. I will help others hack the games and destroy this monstrosity of a company. Yes, I hate Gumi with a passion. They way they've manipulated the rates on BF at the start will never been forgotten. You will go down Gumi, I will be part of your game crashing.

        Loading editor
    • To the poster above; as difficult as it is to believe, there are certain, similar Japanese  games with even worse rates than GBF and GCC, made even worse by how their gameplay works. When I compared them to what we had, we had it easy. Are you going to hack them too? Instead of cursing our nemesis, let's just celebrate the time we all had here as a player. If you still want to spite Gimu, celebrate it...disregarding them.

This might not be possible for them...considering it's the JP server, and they are way beyond in updates than we are unless they're willing to cope with managing two servers which in our case is something of a wishful thinking. It's mobile apps we're talking about and a game which only contains one server (and one only) that connects player just for reinforments, and PvP. Unlike MMORPG (desktop and mobile apps) where servers can be overloaded and needing to separate the player-base with creating another server to prevent lag and traffic. -Well, that dragged off a bit of where I'm actually going is- SEGA isn't going to finance another server just for us when who knows how well CCJP is actually going. Games pass and die, and mobile apps are one of the top to die the quickest because of trends and targeted audiences.

And to answer your second question, it's possible, you just need to know how to bypass the region block.

2nd method: Create Japan`s itunes account.

log out to your itunes account and click download to any free app and click create new account (if you don`t do that, They`ll ask you to put credit card info, etc)-> Choose Japan(日本) as your Country and put random japan`s Address.

Yes, today's the day the app itself will be removed from the App Stores (basically, deleting app now = gone forever), but this game is still remaining active until said date.

Edit: Also, there's still going to be new weekly events as well, it's been stated directly in the Closure Notice.

    • What a shame for Chain Chronicles to close down early. I'd say that CC had more story than Brave Frontier. I actually understand it more than Brave Frontier's current storyline. Not to mention the additional voice acting and real-time combat that made this game more fun to play with, compared to Brave Frontier's turn-based game mechanic. I just feel more connected to CC than BF for the previously stated reasons.

But since CC is closing down, I guess I'll focus on Brave Frontier again. (If you guys want to team up: GBF ID - 822832490)

We know, but considering that Gimu STILL manage to screw-up their current festival recruit with missing information, some of us doesn't have much hope. Even I can only scrape what little info I have for the TV Tropes entry.

As a result, now we're basically saying our farewells early. KZ will still provide translated character infos for a while, other players are already moving on to GBF or JPCC, and I'm currently trying to convince anyone to enlist to Chaldea Security Organization. Late-game players have nothing to do at this point, so you could see that this is the result.

    • This was the best free-to-play game I've played, and I've been playing for over a year. But I have to say, at least from my perspective, it wasn't actually worth ever spending money on. The one time I felt motivated to spend money, the game crashed out of the battle I wanted to continue (was trying to get Rolo). I think that's a really revealing issue.

Gumi had a real gem here I think, but they may have lacked solid system thinkers or perhaps didn't analyze their data enough. They certainly must have lacked a marketing team with a solid understanding of human psychology. Again, my experience is anecdotal, but I had a ton of fun with this game and because I am a follower of the games industry, I usually try to support even free-to-play games with a little purchase at some point. It is a vote for the game with my money. But unlike some other games where I spent some dough almost right away, it never actually seemed worth it to spend money in Chain Chronicle. None of the options met my "needs". The fear of regret I'd feel if purchased prysma landed me 3-star cards outweighed the joy of a potential target arcana because the risk was so high.

A good game should give players what they need and reward them for desired behavior. If Gumi wanted me (and who knows, maybe I'm alone in this) to spend money on the game, they needed to realize that behaviorally, anticipated pain (regret in this case) motivates aversive action almost as much as actual pain. People also tend to overweigh small percentages and will pay a premium for certainty; in my case, I was willing to spend significantly more money on a "sure thing", like reviving my party and getting Rolo in a challenge mission, than I was spending it on what was basically an unknown chance to potentially get some rare card or another. In fact, the price of prysma was such that I NEVER felt it was worth it to spend money on prysma to do a recruit. Not once in a whole year!

As a counterexample, when I downloaded Fallout Shelter and they had a 50% off sale on 15 lunchboxes (think a pack of cards kind of like arcana, except it is a four-pack and at least one is Rare), I made a $5 after just a week of playing. Why did I make a purchase for that game when it isn't even remotely near the richness or longevity of gameplay that CC offers? Because I wanted to spend $5 to support a free game that I liked, and also because 15 lunchboxes was sure to net me at least $5 worth of enjoyment from the new cards I got. $5 in chain chronicle was much, much more likely to result in a dissappointment.

I hope Gumi can use the CC Global experience to improve their handling of monetization in future games so that this doesn't happen again to a good game. They need to discover how to not only monetize from the "gambler" player type, but from "safe bet" types like myself and also from "opening purchase" types who will spend money right away to get something that they know for certain is valuable and is a good deal.

One thing is clear, though; now I can't trust Gumi's handling of games, since gameplay-wise Chain Chronicle was one of the best games of all time that I have played on mobile and they couldn't make enough revenue on it to continue. It makes me really, really hesitant to invest my time or money in any of their games, including Brave Frontier.

      As stated by a few others, this has been one of the few games which I felt was really worthwhile.I poured a lot of passion and time into this game and thoroughly enjoyed every part of it, the graphics, the arcana the plot line (even though I'm probably not going to get to finish it) the events, raids, etc. This has honestly been one of my favorite games ever played so far and to see it ending so soon is just..... ;-;

I hope you come back soon CC <3

And btw, BF will never be as good as CC.

    • I noticed Gumi brought Phantom of the Kill right after GCC is removed from the store. Maybe their contract is indeed expired, so they brought PotK in hopes of gaining better profit margin.

In their defense, PotK looks interesting, even if the battles are exhausting.

    • Oh, just great. I've put a lot of effort into this game and now it will be in vain. What next, Gumi? Is Brave Frontier going to close in a few months too? I love Chain Chronicle! There are so many players In this game! Oh, well, perhaps there will be servers for specific countries?

I was going to try to move to BF, but I noticed that they just discontinued translations for two languages, so I'm thinking that doesn't bode well for the game. I may try Granblue Fantasy when it comes out in English, but we'll see.

I'm using my rudimentary knowledge of Japanese to move to JPCC for now, so I really appreciate this. I won't be able to help out much - if anything, it will be by contributing stats and some barebones quest info - but I'm glad to have a shot at continuing this game. I'm sad that I won't understand most of the lore, since I truly love the stories in this game, but c'est la vie, I suppose.

      Thanks again. <3

I highly doubt that BF Global will meet the same fate anytime soon. While the reason why they decide to stop two translation languages, the global BF is pretty much full of events and so, in addition that players still on it. I to want to believe that BF global will be here for long time, including CC aswell. As I write now, I can't log in into my CC at all for some reason.

    • If you can't download the Japanese version, don't worry. There's a game called Knight Saga: Sword & Fire, with similar gameplay.

Before, many CC users were complaining about how that game copies CC. But now CC is closing, users might either play the Japanese CC or play Knight Saga.

        Loading editor
    • Oh,  just ignore the first sentence of the comment on top, I didn't see that people posted download links.

      So...let's talk about Knight Saga.

Some of Knight Saga's art copies CC. This is usually done by recoloring and flipping the image, and changing the background for the characters. For starters, their icon is a recoloured Dannady. Many CC users downloaded Knight Saga just of its icon. You'll find more CC character ripoffs in the game, and for an exception to the methods they use to copy CC's art, you'll find Tigre in a DIFFERENT pose, wearing different clothes, and different background. And of course, they won't use Dannady or Tigre for the character names, they use names such as Moore or Luthien, to cover up their copycat status.

Not just that, this game has servers. They even have features such as the Arena, Endless Tower (not endless, the last floor is 50.), Plunder (very similar to the feature of the same name in yet another game, Haunted Empire Three Kingdoms.), Guilds, VIP system (the reason free players quit, but, in the server I'm playing in, the #1 player is a free player!), and mooooorreeeee.

Some of their users also play CC, while others have probably never played CC and think Knight Saga was original. When I was looking at the reviews, one of them said that it was better than CC.

So, now that CC is closing, users would either start a new account in JP CC or continue their Knight Saga progress if you play this, or start a new adventure in Knight Saga. As for me, I'll continue playing Knight Saga, because I don't understand Japanese, in which completing missions would be hard.

    • Now I just read in Knight Saga's Facebook page that it's CLOSING in February 18th. Now...we can only play the Japanese CC. You can't find it in App Store or Google Play anymore!

      NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

    • of course knight saga closing, they cant copy cc anymore lol

    • The most ridiculous thing about the closure is that they're still continuing events anyway. We just got new exclusives I think (dunno if they're a collaboration, can't find any info on them) and now there's the banner for the long awaited Agdala raid.

        Loading editor
    • Knight Saga's original language is Chinese, and I DON'T know if the Chinese version is closed too or not.

Let's hope that JP CC exists for eternity...Chain Chronicles is a unique, one-of-a-kind game that should NEVER be closed.

Because IF both CN Knight Saga and JP CC are going to closed someday, then we would lose a game with such UNIQUE gameplay. Knight Saga is the ONLY game that I know is similar to CC, and probably IS the only CC alternative.

So EVERYONE! Let's play the Japanese CC and log in everyday!! Come one...come all...we'll contribute to the number of players in JP CC. Because a game's survival rate depends on the number of players and their active rate.

Most likely exclusives; their storytelling techniques are different than the regular characters.

    • Would anyone mind if I try contributing to the wiki using the chinese one? i don't speak chinese or japanese but could try pulling translations from other sources and such. Or at least I'll post what info I can. Is that okay?

It's insult to injury more than anything.

They're Korean Exclusives to serve as our end of the bargain because Gumi ported some Global Exclusives (but still advertised them as such after the fact), though the Global Exclusives were made to be more powerful in the Korean version, funny right? [Zero]

    • Say, KZ. If somehow Global Exclusive characters are ported to JPCC, will you be so angry at them to the point that you will destroy the whole humanity with the power of ten sacred, magical rings?

Frankly, no. We can't be bothered to care about that scenario since we aren't going to play. Besides, Gumi and Sega's contract is over already, neither can use the other's material anymore unless it was explicitly stated. [Zero]

is it possible to move our data to the Japanese server? or is it possible to play in the japanese server on a new account?

Good question and good point. I want to play CCJP but I want my GCC Account to be transferred to JP server. But unfortunately it's not possible even with proxy & VPN such as VPN Gate & Hotpost Shield (Some well-known VPN softwares but still works for bypassing), I am unable to transfer my GCC Account tot JP servers.

Anyone who might know can reply. I'm saddened on how my hard work would go to waste with the game closing (Not just mine but everyone else who feels the same).

You can't transfer your account...It's like trying to transfer your BFJP account to CCJP.

Global and JP are both different games, on different versions, with programming discrepancies. While you have your data on your device, JP doesn't have it on their server and "trying to bypass the region block" wont magically make your data appear on that server.

    • Busy trying to finish up all my chain stories for the lore, I figure it's a good way to go out. Just a shame I didn't have the time to level up all the characters I got in the Valentine's 2-for-1 recruitment and read their stories. I know you can read them elsewhere, but it's not the same as in-person.
